Default Stupid Mistake, how do I fix it?

Heres the story. A friend and I changed the wiper motor in my car. Well, he thought that I closed the hood and I thought that he closed the hood. At about 35mph, the wind caught it and blew it back over the windshield. Damn near scared me to death. I called him and we limped it back to his house and tried to bend it back into some sort of shape. Anyway, my question is, when the hood bent back, the two back corners of the hood shattered the wiper cowl and dented the sheetmetal that meets up with the windshield. A new wiper cowl is an easy fix, but how do I fix the dented sheet metal. can it be pulled out and smoothed over, does it unbolt, and advice would help.
