You will need cam bearings and freeze plugs I believe. That block may need to be clearanced for the longer rod depending on the kit you get, if you use a 5.4" rod it will need to be clearenced then since it is a 331 it will need to be bored .030" over and finshed honed again. Most of the kits can come with bearings, rings etc...you will need a timing chain and oil pump as well.

Not sure if you have found a kit yet but we got a FORGED 331 kit through Brian Adams and he was cheaper then all the others, got a 4340 crank, 4340 H beam rods, Probe pistons, correct rings and bearings for hundereds less then the others. Drop him a e-mail scatstroker@hotmail.com. Tell him Rick sent ya...

Good Luck!

The summit blocks are ready to go, cam bearings, freeze plugs installed. You need to get your stroker assembly balanced and the block bored over .030 if you went with a kit that requires it, or you can get the block bored .030 over and notch the piston skirts for clearance yourself.

or you can get a 331 stroker kit that uses the standard bore and might not need notching, requiring no additional machine work. Shop around.

A stock bore block with stock bore pistons makes a 327ci, you need the .030 to make it a 331 which has oversize pistons. Machine work ran about $300 up here..we did the clearancing ourselves.

Brian is a good guy isn't he?

It will be a 327 not a 331 but I am sure Brian can accomdate that as long as they make a short enough stock bore piston, that will work with a 5.4" rod that is where the trouble will be....

We e-mailed back and forth a lot, he will answer all the questions you can dish. I'll be getting my 408 or 418ci kit from him in the next year

Im pretty sure some companies out there make a 331 stroker that uses the stock bore size. Central Coast Mustang comes to mind, and Dennis Hilliard. If you want a 331 without the overbore, give him a call.
