Post Supercharger

Ok, I've been surfing this sight for years and figure now I should start some posts. Everyone seems very knowledgable and helpful. Anyway, I have a 91 Notchback with 123K miles. I know the mileage is a little high for a blower, But the motor is strong and does not leak or burn any oil at all. The compression is excellent (all cylinders between 170 and 175 psi). Anyone think it would be a bad idea to go with a blower? I will propably go small 9psi max. I plan on swapping in a new longblock (maybe stroker)within 7-8 months.

Well that is high in the miles but if the compression test showed those numbers thats great. You may also want to do a leak down test that will also tell you whats going on in the motor. Since the long block is in the near future if something were to happen atleast you planned on doing it eventually, but I hink you will not have any issues.

yeah i dont think it would hurt it at all if it has no leaks and all the compression is there but like you said dont go any higher than 9psi until you have a good fuel system to support higher boost.
I suggest going with a good gear driven blower so does every one else on this site if i were you i would get the paxton novi 1000 it is good up to 15 pounds of boost and it still wont over spin. If you buy it it will put out 5lb of boost but all you have to do is up grade the pully and couple of other parts to get 10lb of boost out of it.
The complete kit made 270rwhp and 330rwtq on a completely stock 5.0 with only 5lb of boost
the complete kit cost $1995.
hope this helped you any if you have any more question just ask away and you will get good help every body here is pretty cool.

The Paxton sounds like a real good idea. I was originally thinking Vortech A-trim, but is that upgradeable like the Paxton? Also, will the paxton still be as reliable when I upgrade it to 10lb? I have a higher flowing fuel pump (155), but have yet to get new injectors since I've only gone the bolt-on route so far.

Cool

Sounds like you have a pretty solid engine for 125k. Even though you've got awesome compression I'd agree w/ Rick 91GT and get the leak down test done. Even if the blower ends up killing your motor (which I don't think a 6-9psi kit will do), at least you already planned on the new one . You'll probably want to move up to a 190 f/p or better and definately upgrade the stock injectors.

yeah as far as i know and from what i have read if it can take 15lb of boost it should be reliable at just 10lb of boost get the new 5.0 mustang and fast fords magazine and they have a really good article about the novie 1000 and its instillation.
