![]() Hi,
I don't post much, but i have been reading other posts and you guys seem to know your mustangs well. So i was wondering if you could help me with my setup. Right now i have a vortech t-trim w/ about 8psi, 70mm tb, 36#inj., and the good fuel system(forget what i put in). Anyways, it has come to that time where I wanna throw on some heads, intake manifold, and cam. This car is a street/strip warrior, 5-speed, and 3.55 rear, full exhaust. I hope to get in the 11's, and was thinking along the lines of either a holley or performer rpm intake, victor jr. heads(very sketchy on this part), and totally sketchy on the cam. So i was hoping you guys could point me in some direction as to what to put on. thanks for any suggestions. |

![]() Welcome to SC woes. Im running the Victor jrs and Victor 5.0 intake, 75mm throttle body and 80 maf. It would normally have less lowend with that intake but the sc hits down low so torque is still pretty good. But around 4k it really pulls hard. A good middle of the road intake will be better for street and strip. As far as heads go I like mine but I hear really good things about the AFR 185s. You just need to toss it around a little. Think about what other mods you will make in the future so to make sure what you buy can later be used. Good luck.

![]() go with the holley systamax intake. It works extremely well with superchargers. The victor jr.'s are good heads as are the afr's. Or go with some Trick Flow's.

![]() sounds good. Thanks a lot for replying. Would you happen to have any suggestions for cam? I think that i got the intake down to the holley or edelbrock, and the heads to the victors or afr. Thanks again for helping out.

![]() Get in touch with Comp Cams and give them you exact combo and they can give you a good cam to get. Or Anderson Motorsports has some good cams. Its hard to just give one because setups and uses are so varied. Im running a custom Elgin cam. 510/530 with 223/232 at 112. sounds good and kicks in hard around 3 to 4 grand.

![]() The edelbrock RPM is by far the best intake for the blower setups. At least that was what the Dyno test they did in one of the Mags. You should be able to find that article for comparison.
You will have no problem getting to the 11's with the T-Trim. All you have to do is up the Boost. Here is my setup T-Trim 15PSI Edelbrock Performer Dart II Steel (These heads SUCK) Blower Cam from Comp Cams 65 TB 80 ProM 36 injectors - Stock lines but aftermarket Rails T-Rex Fuel Pump 2 1/2 all the way back AOD with 4K stall 3325 w/driver I run the 1/8 mile mostly and I run consistant 7.1's all day long at 97-99 MPH. That will easily get you to the Low 11's

![]() You can't always believe what you read in magazines. The RPM doesn't perform up high as well as the Holley intake. Simply because the runners in the intake are smaller.

![]() If your are looking for performance over the 6100 then you would not use the Edelbrock RPM you would go for the Edelbrock Victor.
But since we are talking about the intake in conjuction with a supercharger the intake runner width does not come into play that much. I would much rather take the word of a DYNO on a intake by intake comparision that someone just saying one is better that the other. Hard facts are much better than word of mouth.

![]() As for an 'off the self' cam, the F303 isn't bad at all. Just don't forget about piston to valve clearance (PTVC). If you're running stock pistons with TFS TW heads or others and a bigger cam/duration, you may run into PTVC issues. E

![]() Laxman since you trust the dyno so much..have you ever seen a dyno go down a track? i sure as hell haven't. I rely on track numbers for my facts not some lame magazine who's gonna report false numbers just so that the factory can praise them. Don't believe everything you hear in a magazine or on a dyno. Go to the track and find out what works better.

So what you are saying is that you have used both intakes at the track and there is a difference? I think the stock mufflers are better than a set of Flowmasters because my car ran better on night at the track with the stock ones instead of the aftermarket ones. Who cares that the night with the stock mufflers it was 60 degrees colder. ![]() Of course you can rely on dyno number to get a feel for what is better. Everyones car is going to be different in some way or another but you sure would not want to go out and buy something because someone SAID it was better. I would much rather have a test with all of the variables the same!

![]() theirs too many variables involved on a dyno. You have to factor in weather conditions, air temps, etc. On a dyno you have none of that. And yes i have seen both intakes run..both on supercharged cars. one on a 15lb t-trim and the other a 13lb procharger. And the rest of the combo's were pretty much the same. the one with the holley (procharg'd car) outrun the Edelbrock equipped car.

![]() You can't compare one car to another. There are so many cars out there that have the same setup and still run totally different times.
That is why a dyno test with the SAME car and changing out ONLY the intake you can tell the difference between them. Every car is different when it comes to putting a combination together but a Dyno test with the same car and different intake will point you in a general direction. Just like putting a Victor on a stock engine would hurt you instead of help. The Dyno would tell you that. So if the car in the dyno test resembles yours you can get a feeling of how the intakes will fair for you.

![]() Some people can't afford to go out and try every intake so they have to believe in something. I would much rather believe facts in print from someone who is not trying to sell me something, instead of someone who SAYS something is better because he saw a car with it once.

![]() They are always trying to sell you something but you at least get a list of how ALL of the intakes did an not just one. They you can make a decision on which on to buy instead of having to by the ALL and check to see which one does the best on your combination. (Because like I said earlier, everyones car runs a little different even with the exact same setup)

![]() man, there has been tons of posts in one day. Thanks a lot for helping out. I personally like to hear from dyno tests and people's experiences and decide which way to go from there. Overall, it does not matter, as long as your get to the finish line first right
