Default Superchargers

I am looking into getting a supercharger for my 95 GTS, I was wondering what brands are worth looking into, and which ones to steer clear of? I'm looking at 8-12 psi boost.

I can do 8-9 psi on a totally stock motor right? Any more than that would require fuel system upgrades and what else?

With 8-9 PSI you will need a bigger fuel pump.

Vortech, Paxton and ATI are the biggest players in the game. Vortech probably has the best customer feedback.

I guess I will speak for Powerdyne since I am one of a few Powerdyne owners who hasn't had any problems with the blower as of yet (knock on wood). Yes, believe it or not, we are out there. I have over 4,000 miles on it, 39 dyno runs, and just under a dozen quarter mile runs without a hiccup.

With that being said, the BD-11A is an entry level blower (850cfm) with little room to grow. Everyone, just like me, wants more power eventually and going over 9psi on the belt driven Pd could put the internals at risk. On the bright side, the belt and bearings can be bought for about $100 and the rebuild can be done in your garage.

So unless money is really an issue, I always recommend a blower you can grow with, like an S-trim. You just never know what you will get with a Powerdyne. It seems some last forever and some break right away. Good luck.

On a side note--Your best bet is to listen to those with ACTUAL experience with superchargers. There are some (actually one person) on this website who believe because they read certain websites (Vortech, ATI) that they have expert knowledge on the subject. Just a warning. Again, good luck.

Default What would I need for...

Hey thanks for the info guys! What would I need to do if I wanted to use 10-12 psi of boost? Is that about as far as you can go with stock internals?

What about just doing the in-tank pump, injectors and a custom chip, for 12 psi?

I'm kind of out of answers for you since I don't have the experience with 12lbs of boost on a stock or modified car. I know my car really couldn't be run with 12lbs without an upgrade to at least 42# injectors and a good dyno-tune to keep it safe. Try asking over at the Corral. Go to their Power Adder forums. There are so many people who have had just about every combo imaginable and sometimes offer really good advice. Good luck.

You're probably looking at an in-tank pump, in-line pump, bigger injectors, ignition upgrade and a chip to start.

12 PSI is a lot of boost.

Then yank the motor you've got now, sell it, make some money, then drop the new motor in and give it hell.

I might just do that, the season is half over where I am so maybe I will do the swap in the winter. I guess its worth it, seeing as I can't push the stock one as far as I want to go and I don't want to be buying and building twice. Thanks man.
