sway bar endlinks
 

What is the recomended way to install new sway bar endlinks? I got one side threaded on after about 5 hours. I still can't get the other side. How do I do it?

OK this is how I did mine, Prbably not hte suggested method but it worked. While I laid under the car.. I had my dad wrap a chain around the sway bar and pull up on it. He came down from the top of the motor, between the water pump and fan. and pull up un the chain. When he pulled up it made the ends of the sway bar go down, making the distance short enough to get the end links through the holes and the nuts started on. Then I tightened them down (all while he held pressure against the sway bar). Worked fine, Took about 30 minutes to do both sides. Hope tshi helps. You might be able to just use a floor jack under the middle of the sway bar???

I unbolted the mounts and I was able to get one side on. How far do you tighten the bolts? The bushings compress alot when you tighten thme down. I think I will try the floor jack idea. I'm not sure if it will reach, I have it high enough so I can get the tranny out (I'm doing my clutch). Thanks.

When I did mine, I ran the nuts down as far as I could with just a regular ole wrench.. I found no true instructions to this so I just did what I thought was adequate. It worked fine

Not sure why you guys are having so much trouble. I can swap mine out in like 15 minutes.

The bushings do not squish down. I can't get the nut started.

Drudis: can you explain exactly how you did it? Is it easier to d oit with the car on the ground? I have been tring to do it with the wieght off the front suspension. the maunual says "oppsoite of removal" :mad:

I put the car in the air on jackstands under the front A-arms (so the car is resting on the suspension, while in the air).

I've never had that problem. I can change mine in about 20 min.

Although probably not the best idea, on mien I shaved about 1/8" off of one of the poly bushings (1/16" off of 2 bushings would be better I think) to get the nut started. Doesn't seem to have caused any problems.

I just did them with the car on the ground. It was sooo easy. My mistake was trying to do them while the car was jacked up (I just installed a centerforce dual friction).

Finally drove my car today. WOW, I can't believe the difference poly endlinks make. No more squeaks and the front feels very solid.
