![]() I'm a beginning do-it-yourselfer. My goal is to get 300 hp to the ground. I know that it is not about buying the most expensive parts as it is about having the right combination. My problem is that I lack the experience to choose the right combination. I also have a limited budget.
Here is what I have: 85 GT 4bbl hyd. roller cam K&N Filter Flowmaster 2Chamber Offroad H-pipe Performer Series 289intake and 600cfm Carb Stock ignition timing (about 12deg. i think) compression with stock heads is 8.4 (since blowers might be too expensive this is a problem) On the Way- 1 5/8" headers MSD igniton (unless someone reccomends something better) 3.73 gears The only thing I won't do myself is the machine work. I lack the equipment. My biggest question is what cam and head setup will give me the power I am looking for. Should I port what I've got or get a different set of heads. And then what would be the best cam to go with it. |

![]() eith the afr head of trickflows will help you get the power you want. don't bother with the msd, the factory ignition is good enough for what you want. unless you go with a blower or nitrous. cam choice is wide open here, there's a few cam that can give you that power, just have to match to the heads and intake

![]() Edelbrock makes a good power package that includes rpm heads, rpm intake, and cam. They claim it makes 367 hp, which is fairly decent without a power adder.
You can check out the dyno sheet at http://www.edelbrock.com/automotive/index.html Look under the "Dyno Test Results" section on the left side of the screen. It's hard to beat Edelbrock's consistent quality. I have a set of rpm heads and couple of their 4bbl intakes, and I'm satisfied with all.

![]() WOW! I just checked out that site, and I had no idea!. I ran my car, in it's current tune, to a 12.51 at just over 112. i had it dynoed. At at the rear wheels i was getting 265 hp, 315 ft lbs. 1974 302 block, stock crank, rods. forged TRW pistons, heads are ported and polished. cam is copied from the 351W. basically i had the cam made to match the lift, duration, lobe separation, the works. I am looking for some more power, and this package looks like it might be my way. Does anyone have any prices? of course, edelbrock doesn't list pricing on their site.

![]() You can find the prices for almost anything on the edelbrock site at summit racing. http://www.summitracing.com/ Take down the part number on the edelbrock site, then go to summit and search by part number. When you enter the part number, enter "edl-#"
If the part number was 2121, enter edl-2121 |

![]() I'd say he'd have to be around 2000 lbs!
My 310 rwhp got me low 12's @ 112. My car is fairly light. About 2950 lbs with my 200 lb azz in it.

![]() Actually he would be at a 2400 lb track weight to run that number.
Maybe he did it on a G-tech?

![]() with me, the car weighed somewhere around 2600 lbs. i was running M/T sportsman slicks, and launching at about 3000 rpm. short time was 1.5 to 60'. i hope it calculates, cause if it doesn't, i have a miracle car.
