T-5 out of a Mustang??
My buddy wants to put a 5 speed in his 66 Chevelle.
We found a T-5z out of a 5.0 cobra. Could we mate this to his 350 chevy some way? Help guys... Thanks.... didnt the older camaros and fireturds V8's come with T-5s? i bet if you find a camaro bellhousing, that your tranny will fit it but you would probably have to cut a new hole in the floor for the shifter

Without taking that childish "Chevy's suck-Ford's rule" attitude, answer this: Is the Nova going to be a strret/strip car or primarily strip? How much does he have to spend on a tranny? As a stang owner, I have also owned several Chevrolet's, both street and strip, automatic and manual (and manual/automatic). I may be answer your question when I hear how much he had to spend.

I just spent about an hour online looking for specs, I didn't find much of anything useful for input shaft data.
You can always try it, but I don't know how much different the GM T-5 was from the Ford T-5. I do know there were internal differences as Ford went to the WC units way before GM. |

Well it sounded like a good deal....
Its a street/strip car. Not all strip by anymeans. Just want a 5 speed w/ over drive. Check out these guys - http://www.advanceadapters.com/ - they can make almost anything fit almost anything else - except the 5.0 I want to put in my Jeep to mate up to the existing trans. So I'm looking for a C4. These guys make an adapter from a C4 to my Jeep transfer case. Plus they've got a pretty good tech support line.

Check with Forte's fortes he is pretty knowlegable about trans swaps. IIRC the GM T-5 uses a different input shaft and a unique bellhousing which rotates the trans 23° or so. Plus the torque issue behind a 350 or larger small block etc...

Yeah, Camaros and Trans Am's from the 80's came with a T5. The internals are the same except for the input and output shaft. The GM unit has more splines on it than the Ford T5. They will not mate with the flywheel.

If you haven't already, just ignore my post. Just didn't think it was worth the hassle to interchange different auto manufacturers parts. For some reason I can't delete that post, if anyone here has the capablities, would you please delete that post, thanks.
