What do I need to do this?
Starting with:

Don't I need a new flywheel and driveshaft?

Ieatcamaros 09-20-2004 09:53 PM

Yes you need a flywheel. You don't need an driveshaft.

OK, with help from my aftermarket parts dealer, Benny's Auto here in Iceland, my guy found a 1994-1996 T-5 for about $650, will this fit with no hassel.
Don't I need a new computer for a manual tranny.

The 94-95 T-5's have an input shaft that is 17mm longer. It can be used in your application if you replace the input shaft, and input bearing retainer. You could use it as is with a 94-95 bellhousing, but then you would need to modify your crossmember, and your driveshaft.

Is your 83 carbed or did you convert it to EFI? If its EFI, what is the computer code?

Thanks man,

So it's a wiser choice to go with a T-5 from a 90-93 Mustang, that would be a direct bolt on, am I right?

I'ts a EFI motor from a '91 T-Bird, if you mean the numbers below the bar code on the wire connector, than this is the code: 2323903

Thanks:D

Yes, try to find the parts from an 87-93 Mustang.

The code I was wondering about is the 3 digit one, but since your computer is out of a T-bird, I probably wouldnt recognize it. Is your car mass-air, or speed density?

I have the mass-air system, yes.

Thanks for the help, again.

If you are planning to use the mass air, just get a A9L computer. Look on ebay.

Hehe :p , I use a company called www.shopusa.is, witch I have items shiped to in the US, and they ship the items via air (once a week) or by sea (once every two weeks). This way I can order stuff from the internet, have it sent to the ShopUSA warehouse and pay the domestic shiping charges. Some internet companys don't ship over seas or if they do charge outrageus shiping charges.
I use Bilabud Benna (Benny's Auto), they supply me with used stuff, f.i. the T-5.

I'll chek out the A9L computer on ebay or Benny's Auto.

Thanks again.:D

Any other ideas on the shifters, I myself is leaning towards the Steeda.

Update on the Tranny hunt. I found a tranny from an 88' Stang GT, I'm getting everything I need for the tranny (from that car), including the computer for for about $800, witch is pretty good concidering I almost bought a used tranny (just the tranny) for about $2000 from a new and used parts dealer hear in Iceland (thay would hvar imported it from the USA to Iceland).
So I will be a happy stick shiftn' pappy in a coupple of months. :D

More updates later.
