Default 347 Accesories

Its time for me to decide on what ignition and fuel setup to install on my 347. It has gt40-p heads ported with 1.6rr's, Re ground stock cam good for about 1/2" lift and a dry NOS system which i'll be sprayin only 100-150 nothing more I doubt 150 will be used. I wanna know without spending to much a nice igntion system, injectors and distributer setup, here what I thought. Maybe a intake aftermarket pump, crane fireball igntion system to go with my crane fireball coil and some 9mm wires, just not sure on which plugs, not sure how cold I have to go on those. Just lookin for some suggections. I will not be spraying alot just when I feel like goin to the track for fun, no serious racing just lookin to have fun.

Reground stock cam Buy a cam or you will kick your self later. The cam is more important then a fancy ignition system IMO. You could get away with your stock one for a long time without a notice in hp change.

I couldnt agree more. A cam can make or break the performance.

Definitely get a cam!! Maybe a trick flow stage 2, or a custom grind(stay away from the letter cams). I drive my car daily(about 40 miles a day) and I have the TFS stage 2 and I couldn't say enough good about it. It idles good and has tons of power/torque even at the low rpms. Trust me, with the extra cubes you'll need more cam. I still run the stock ignition in my car and have done so for 18,000 miles on my 331! CAM! CAM! CAM! get one!

Hey erikd93lx you are only pullin low 13's. Whats up with that? I haven't taken my car to the track yet (snow here) and with my mods I was at least expecting to get 12's without spray. And low to mid 11's with. Man I was miss led.

Yeah, those low 13's were on street tires! My mph was 109.1 and that was feathering the gas off of the line. I should be able to hit low-mid 12's just with that mph and I think I could pick up a few mph just by flooring it the whole time and powershifting. Also, I was only shifting at 6,000 in fear of hitting my stock rev limiter(and I was shifting very easy on the trans.). My friend has a car with pretty much the same setup, and he ran 11.70 at 117 on slicks and driving it hard up(shifting a 7000 rpms). My times really don't do any justice for my car. I consistently beat people that I have seen run low 12's so my only excuse is that I can't drive under pressure at the track, lol!

LOL!! I know what the car is capable of, I just don't have the funds or time right now to go to the track. The first time I ran it out there I only had about 3000 miles on my motor and I knew the transmission was on its last leg so I was kind of taking it easy. Now, 19,000 miles and 3 T5's later, I would be willing to run it hard if I had the time and money. The only thing I am worried about now is axles and torque boxes. BUT, my motor is coming out this weekend. I am selling the shortblock to a friend and putting a "stock" motor in the car to sell it. I will be throwing together a 302 with new rings/bearings with ported E7TE's, an F303 cam, 24# injectors, roller rockers, and a few other very small mods. The car will once again be a high 13 second car but I'll come out better selling it piece by piece. I will see what the motor is capable of in my friends car because he isn't shy when it comes to racing, I expect to see 11's out of it n/a.
