T5 problem
I recently installed a T5 in my classic mustang. It worked really nice for a few days and now every time I come out of 4th gear there is gear clatter. 4th gear is the only one that does this. The trans came out of a 1990 mustang with a 302. It goes into 4th with no problem, and sometimes if I come out really slow it will not clatter. I have checked the clutch and it is fully engaged. Could anyone shed some light on this problem? I am afraid to drive it for fear that there is something seriously wrong with it. Thanks for all your help

Sounds like a bad synchro in the tranny. Just take it easy coming out of 4th and your tranny should hold up for awhile. Lots of mustangs grind a bit. Mine does to 3rd a little but it still shifts great after 97k+.

Ya, I have a bad grinding noise in 2nd for some reason. Are you saying thats bad I should get that fixed? Or will it hold up for long time? I checked to see how much it would cost to get my syncs redone on the t5. They said between 600-1000 depending on if I want high performance or not. *shrug*

Check your tranny fluid. Have it changed if nothing else.
