![]() Hey!
I am in the same position. I have a AOD in my GT, and I like it, but when I drive in my friends car I want a T5!!! I am going to do the T5 conversion, it may take time, but I will do it. It is all up to you, but since you said "a stick would be fun" I think you have made up your mind ![]() Ian ------------------ Ian Sim ian@stangpower.com 1988 Mustang GT "Canadian Cobra", stock, AOD, loaded Tons of Products! ![]() 88COBRA make sure to tell us how your converson goes. right now i am looking into doing that too. I just like the stick for driveing and the aod for me leave a lot to be desired (i learned on the stick) there is not much to do wile driveing with the aod. all you do is push the go button and stear. simple but boreing....

![]() Here's some inscentive. I went from 15.5@93 with the aod, to 14.7 at 95.3 when I went to a t-5. Not to mention it's 10 times more fun to drive. Eight tenths is all the difference in the world.

![]() For a mildly modded street car, the T-5 is the only way to go. Lowered et's and the fun of total power control are a huge incentive.
Yes, you can beef up an AOD, get a high-stall converter, a shift kit, a cooler and 4.11 rear gears and probably run equal to a T-5's et's with more consistancy - but less fun. An AOD-to-T-5 conversion will run around $2,000. if you go with good/new stuff (highly recommended). Close to what making the AOD competitive to a stick would cost. Your call. |
