up for about 5 minutes of driving it..but it only does it

with a heavy duty impact so i know those are tight ...and every

Its your heart beating dude!, J/K. how about bad lifters, or a rocker?

I have the exact same problem at the same rpm you have. Anything before or after 2100rpm is fine. I have no idea whats going on.

I had this tapping problem in a ranger I had. The problem turned out to be a stuck lifter. Hope this helps.

i know you said that you tightened down all the exhaust bolts, but if you used the header gaskets that came with the mac headers, they are copper and with copper you have to tighten them down at least 3 times after numerous hot-cold cycles. around 2000rpms is where the mustangs usually have the good ol' "HUM" thats why im leaning towards an exhaust leak. it is possible that it is a lifter or rocker arm too. hope that helps a little.

you said that you did away with the air pump, did you make sure you pinched the tube that comes out of the h-pipe. that would make a very big exhaust leak.

i hne an off road h pipe...i put new lifters and push rods and rockers...my friends thinks its my springs floatingafter the car warms up...ill keep you updated....i cant do the springs till next week anyhow...im outta money lol....hope this helps any of you guys...thanks for the input =)

sn95gt19 05-03-2002 12:28 AM

if the springs were bad they would float up higher in the rpm range, they wouldnt float at 2000rpms. the higher the rpm, the worse the ticking would get, the off road h pipes still have the tube for the air pump, its located on the passenger side right up next to the trans on the pipe. if you didnt plug the pipe that comes out ofthe h pipe, thats most likely it. I JUST DONT WANT YOU TO SPEND THE MONEY ON THE SPRINGS, OR TEAR IT ALL DOWN. CAUSE YOU DONT HAVE TO check all the simple things first

thclover1 05-03-2002 02:29 PM

all the holes are plugged up on the h pipe..the tappng starts at around 2400 and gets ouder at around 2500,2600 etc....but it has to be driven for about 5 minute before i starts..the sorings need changed anyhow..the do have 170k on them lol and an "e" cam i just put in....so it wouldnt hurt...

Just want to give you some ideas. Did you double check that all the rockers were installed correctly. Auto stethoscopes are pretty cheap maybe one of those could help you narrow down where the sound is coming from.

imgetting one of those yes =)
