Post Autometer gauge problem - Always reads oil pressure...

Hello All,

My Auto Meter 2 5/8 phantom oil pressure gauge reads a steady 50 lbs even with the engine stopped.

The sending unit reads between 20 and 90 ohms to ground with no meter connected and the engine stopped or varying speed.

The gauge reads between zero and 100 lbs when substituting a variable resistor to ground for the sending unit.

The gauge and sending unit seem to be OK, independently.

The voltage at the sending unit with the gauge connected is a steady 5.8 volts to ground with the meter connected, ignition on, engine stopped and only slightly higher with the engine running.

Any suggestions?
