![]() I just had larger valves machined into my heads and put them on yesterday. Today i go back to finish up the job by filling up the radiator. But just about as fast as I poured it in it was running out of my passenger side header. A steady stream which was very uneasing. I'm so sad/mad that I can't think straight and I was wanting any opinions on where this leak may be. I want to have a good idea of where it is before I tear it apart.

![]() You need to unbolt the header from the head, and see where it's coming from. Did you put thread sealer on your lower head bolts before you put them in?

![]() I pulled my header off and the stream is coming out of the number 3 exhaust port. That exhaust valve is closed so I don't think it is coming from the cylinder, though I could be wrong. I cheacked the oil and found no signs of coolant. I did put sealant on the bolts. If anyone has any ideas before I remove the intake and head I would be very appreciative. And thanks PKRWUD for your reply.

![]() Your machine shop may have cut too much. There are water jackets above and to both sides of the exhaust valve seat.

![]() The fact that it's in the cylinder means that it could be a head gasket that slipped when you installed the head. I'm afraid that head has to come off, but before it does, pull the other spark plugs and see if there is any coolant anywhere else. If there isn't, than I would suspect a damaged head. If the source isn't obvious when you pull the head, get out your magnifying glass, or go get a magnaflux kit.

![]() Had the same problem happen to me a while back, it was the head gasket, it had a slice in it and I had to pull it all back apart. But after that it was ok, I was glad it wasn't the head though. Good luck. Hope it isn't the head for you.

![]() It's a sad sad day in the garage. I pulled the head only to find a smashed nut two bent valves and a split cylinder. A word to the wise, NEVER, NEVER leave small children unattended in the garage. He actually admitted to it so I wasn't to hard on him. I fiqure sh*t happens and I can show him why you don't do it instead of just telling him not to. Well if anyone knows where I can find a roller block, perferably one that dosen't need to be bored please let me know. It's back to the begining for me. Thanks for everyones help.

![]() I know your pain. Everything (except the yolk) in this picture was caused by a single carb nut falling in the intake and me not knowing it:
![]() Anyway, I know that doesn't make you feel any better. I'm sorry. Bro. BTW, ALL 5.0's that were in cars after 1986 are roller blocks, and all that were in trucks after 1988 are roller blocks. They may not have a roller cam in them, but they are all the same block. Take care, ~Chris

![]() Thanks a million for all of your help and support. I'm pretty sure mine was a carb nut too. I don't know why my cylinder wall went and my piston didn't but I'll post a picture of mine tomorrow. I had a piston that looked about like that once but it was because of an intake gasket leak that poured coolant into that cylinder. I drove it home pouring smoke and running on 7 clyinders. I was amazed it made the 10 mile trip. Thanks again
