Re: "Temporary" engine

DYNAMIC compression is guestimated at 11.43:1 Static is up around 13.2:1 so I see what you mean there.

Ran some tests on my desktop dyno, and with 1.7 rockers, and the cam retarted 4* is when it made the best power. 579HP at 7000. With the 1.6 rockers, and the cam at 0*, it's making 573HP at 7000.

So Me thinks due to the close tolerances on those pistons, and we're only talking about 6 HP, I'm gonna go straight up on the cam, and 1.6 rockers.

Sound logical?

Here she is all "mocked" up:

Good luck with the engine from a fellow canfield fan.

I beat everyone else with a stock block regardless of what heads they are running AFR 185's Trick Flows it doesnt matter. The air gets as bad as 6400FT here where I am at and I still go 106mph.

I would be going 110-112mph at sea level in a full weight car and I weigh 220 lbs.

I couldnt be happier with my Canfields.

These are even 1-off Canfield heads. This is the first casting of the new design for the 215 heads, should be bad-azz.

USED to be friends with the owner, but we had a falling out. LOOOOONG story. So my new bad-azz Canfield heads will probably be sporting a set of TRICK FLOW valve covers! <WEG> :D

It's Alive! Fired her up today, and I gotta admit, she sounds pretty pissed off. I went with the 1.7 rockers, and the cam straight up at zero. She gets hot REALLY fast, so I have to deal with that, but other than that... Woo Hoo!!! If it runs as good as it sounds, it might just become a "temporarily permanent" engine. hehehehhe

Here's a crappy phone pic:

Just reading some old threads and I had to comment on this one!

Thanks to YOU guys, I do believe this "temporary" engine found a permanent home, and is alive and WELL!!!!

I NEVER would have done this without this forum, just something I wouldn't have even thought about.

At 11.061 @ 123.21 MPH N/A, I'm glad I let you all talk me into it.

THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!

I still have that cam, the 544/548 one. It did REALLY well on my 302.

That's not the specs for "Mr. Nasty" though. hehehehehe
