TF STREET HEATS: How much are they worth?
I found a set of the original "high port" Trick Flow Street Heats, new and unassembled. How much is a set of bare castings worth? I know they require special headers, but what else? I need help asap, as I may be buying these tomorrow.

Well, I can't comment on worth, but I can say I bought a car with a Set of the TF Street Heat Heads. They have been on the car since the Heads were first made.
They have been great to work with and make allot of power. I was running autolites 63 in the Heads with 10.5 to 1 compression and now I am running the autolite 51 because my compression went up to 12.5 to 1. So anyway, great heads, allot to work with and has helped my car get into the 10's (all motor) and there is more there. -James |
They are a good head. Are those the aluminums or IRONS? I dont believe that they flow as well as the new TW heads. How much are you paying for them?

These are aluminum, and I think I can get them for about $600. I know that with a full-on port job, these can make power with the best of today's high-end offerings. I am also aware that out-of-the-box, they arent as good as some others. That is part of what I like about them. They will work with the combination I'm building, and later, with some hogging, they will work with a serious 351 stroker. |
well I know before the AFRs and Canfields came out, the old high port could fetch quite a dollar. They are still great heads, but there are so many other choices out now that can compete with it. BTW, they are tooling up a new batch of the old version soon, so dont pay too much. Id say $600 a set is a good price. These heads can go low 8s in the quarter, or just 12s.

Don't the old Street Heats require different headers? Although since you are planning a 351 jobbie, you may not care that much, lol.
You can get a complete set of TFS TW for between $900-$1000 ready to bolt on, and out of the box, they'll outperform the street heats. It all depends on how bad you want them. http://www.mustangworks.com/msgboard/smile.gif |

Well, for now these heads would go on a 347 with an eagle/srp forged assembly. Later, I am thinking of a sportsman based 414" after some serious porting. I think I can buy these castings for $600, and think they would work pretty well. So, are they worth $600? |
Unit, they do require special headers, but I havent bought headers yet. I figure they add some $$ to the bill. Do these heads require offset lifters, shaft rockers, or custom length pushrods?
Also, What are the cc of the combustion chamber on these heads? |
How much is the cost of assembly going to be on the heads or are you going to do that alll yourself? If not factor that cost in too. 600 Doesn't sound too bad but figure in the extras.
I honestly don't know that much about these heads, but I have seen people run pretty well with them. I don't think you need different pushrods, but don't quote me on that. Sky, I would have had them ported and assembled with some nice hardware for $1,000, however, the owner now feels they are worth $800, and I don't, so it's back to the drawing board. . . . .

I had the old irons on my old car. They did require different headers, but I loved them. They seemed to have more low end than the TW's, but my TW's pull harder up top.
I have the flow charts on both.
