Default Help!!! Lost An O2 Sensor... Am I Safe To Drive???

i was driving down the highway, and my motor suddenly sounded like it had a bad exhaust leak, so i thought i might have blew my head gasket (i advanced my timing today). i get home, and ask Unit5302 how to check if my head gasket is gone, so i go out & try what he said, but no luck. then i run the car trying to find where the leak is at, and as i get down on my stomach, i see the end of the o2 sensor hanging on the groung, with no plug(part that goes in the h-pipe).

well, what do i do??? am I safe to run it with only 1 o2? what size tap would i use to try & re-thread my h-pipe hole for the o2?? could i just stick a bolt in there for now, until i get another 02, or should i immediatly get one???

Thanks a million

Default O2 sensors...

1. If at all possible, replace your o2 sensor even if it is from Discount Auto or whatever. Get a Napa one later when you can afford it.
2. Yes, your car will run, probably richer than it is supposed to. It really depends on what you have done to your EGR system.
3. Your computer will not recieve the proper voltage input so expect a performance/economy decrease which could result in poor driveability which could lead to a variety of other problems.
4. Sorry to be so negative, but since you obviously care about your car, spend the $30 for a new sensor.

Default Tap and Die...

Yes, absolutely. It will be a little challenging because of the aluminum, but as long as you are patient it will be a snap with a good tap and die set.
