I don't have anywhere near the HP you do, but I found myself continually getting beat at the stop light races due to no traction on street tires. 1st gear was a joke, and in some situations, nailing it in 2nd resulted in tons of wheel spin. I threw a set of nitto 555R drag radials and needless to say, I don't have that problem anymore. I personally would go for the Nitto's on a true street/strip car. They will last a lot longer on the street than the BFG's will. I have way over 12K miles and 60+ passes on them, and they are now finally getting to the point where I should replace them. I was cutting 1.91 60's on them with my mods before the 4.10's and subframe connectors. They don't hook as well as they used to, I think it because they are worn past the duwl compound rubber. The BFG's on the other hand hook just as well bald as they do new. The BFG's do recommend heat cycling on the first time out, but don't need the hellatious burnout that the Nitto's do to hook up.
