Default rebuild vs stroker short block

Im looking into buying a short block or having my block rebuilt. Its about half price for me to have my block rebuilt and im not looking for more power(stroker)as this is a street car and never sees the drag strip. The thing is ive got a 14 lbs procharger on the way and i plan on making somewhere in the +400 hp range. Will my rebuilt block be reliable at factory specs or should i save up for a stroker short block and play it safe. keeping this in mind- its my only transportation...

14 psi? sounds like you might invest into a main support and some dished pistons....and oh yeah and an MSD BTM.

Stroker means your increasing the stroke which increases the displacement of the engine , like a 302 to a 347 ... it does not increase the strength.

Wow, Dave looks like you have alot for go fast parts for just a daily driver. Let alone you want to add over 10lbs of boost. My question is, what do you really want to do with the car? You might already know, adding a supercharger, especially one with over 10#s of wind is quite a lot. It will require a real tight tune, or you can expect your own personal cherynbol to ensue. I would say at a "bear minimum" add a DSS main cap gridle and windage tray for strength. Along with changing from bolts to ARP studs on the main caps and go with wav-loks on the rods if you want to stay with a stock displacement. I wouldn't skimp on the lower end of the motor with that much power or you could be rebuilding it again sooner than you think.

Hotriddin- If I bought a dss stroker its rated at like 600 hp- with all the main support- it would add strength over my stock rebuilt block. Thats what I would be saving up for.

shogun- As far as the tune I would have it installed by a very good speed shop- thats done all the mods to the car. I might look into a dss 306 though and get the main support with it. As far as what I want to do with it? I like to think of it as a daily driver/ sleeper.

if i were you i would build a good 306,

if you want to go 347 i have 10 je 8.5:1 pistons for sale with spiro locks, rings, and pins

$400

they are brand new
