![]() what size is the stock throttle body on an 88 5.0??? also, i hear about removing an air silencer... where is that? i thought it was inside the air duct somewhere, but from some things ive read, its that huge box with the air filter in it......

![]() The stock throttle body I believe is around 60mm..The air thing is right behind the air box..like a panel..

![]() The air silencer is behind the air filter box inside the fender. Remove the filter box and it's the plastic piece on the other side of the hole in the fender.

![]() The snorkel (air silencer) was put on by Ford to keep the intake quiet, but when you get it off, you probably won't notice a difference. The snorkel is in the fender wall (cooler air) behind the panel filter. To get to it, unclip the air box (as if you were changing the air filter) and remove the air filter. You may want to take the airbox part that you unclipped off temporarily for easier access. There are 2 or 3 nuts that hold the snorkel on, undo them, and you will hear it fall into the fender wall. Now, figure out how to get the snorkel out. Once your don, put the filter back in and the airbox back together. Removing the snorkel and adding a K&N is supposed to be worth about a tenth in the quarter.
