Post times with gears

I just recently bought my 95 vert and I was wondering what type of times I can shave off a 1/4 mile run by installing 3;73's. I know that they are gonna make her get up, but I have never really heard anything about real times. Thanks guys

My 95GT vert' ran 15.20 at 90mph stock. I added 3.73's and ran like 15.4's, but my clutch was smoked, so I replaced the clutch and while I was at it I installed a bassani off road X pipe. This dropped me to a 15.02 at 91.5mph. Get pulleys man! ASP aluminum underdrive pulleys took me from a 14.96 at 91.5 to a 14.5-14.6 at 94.89mph, you can't beat that for less than $100. Also do yourself a favor and don't let anyone talk you into 3.55's for your car, these SN95's are just too darn heavy for anything less than a 3.73 gear, heck I just swapped out my 3.73's for 4.10's because I wanted even more get up and go to get my 3700lb+ convert' up and running!

So your tellin me that I will basically see no difference in the gears. That cant be true. I figured that I would at least get about 3-4 tenths. I am deffinitely getting some pulleys next. I guess I'll just have to run the car before I put the gears in to find out for myself. Thanks for the info man. And do you know how much more these damn verts weigh. I just wanna break the 13's with some minor mods. And eventually get in the 10's when I get the cash flow.

I'm not telling you that you won't gain anything, but don't plan on 3-4 tenths either. My car without the spare, jack, rear carpet, rear plastic, rear seat, removed 10lb differential weight, removed 25lb weight in the passenger fender, removed Mach 460 amps, aluminum driveshaft, and aluminum underdrive pulleys, and with a 1/4 tank og gas weighs 3510 without me, or 3685 with, and this is the lightest I ever had the car. Of course mine is bit heavier than most due to the chrome roll bar, chrome wheels, and ground effects.

I thought that with gears I'd be in the 14's, but that wasn't the case. It took 3.73's, HD clutch, Pro 5.0 shifter (definitely get on of these when you get your gears installed), 14* timing, offroad X pipe, 2 chamber flowmaster mufflers, and a K&N w/o the air silencer to run a 14.96 at 91.5mph. Pulleys took me to a 14.5-14.6 at 94.89mph. The intake, T-body, headers, and aluminum driveshaft took me to 14.3's at 96-97mph. Nitto's and the homemade air inlet tube took me to 13.8's at 98.3-98.5, and this is with 1.91 60's. I have only known of 1-2 other people that have run 13's in an SN95 vert while still retaining the stock heads, cam, rockers, MAF, injectors, etc. Its not an easy feat to do, trust me, I never thought I'd be able to do it once I started throwing parts at the car and seeing all they gave me. You say you want 13's on minor mods, well you see what I had to do, and I concider myself a good driver. I have at least 150 passes in this car, and practice does pay off at the strip.

I wanted to do the same thing as you, when I was putting in my gears I wanted to know how much I'd pick up, so I posted around the net and couldn't get an answer, so I did as you plan to and base lined the car, then went back the following week to see how much I gained. Please let me know how you do, I'm curious to see how much you gained.
