![]() While your in there it would be a good idea to go ahead and change the timimg chain and gears. Just go to the autoparts store and get a double roller timing chain.
Timing gears keep better timing than a timing chain, but unless your a bracket racer or something I would just get a double roller timeing chain

![]() i am in the middle of replacing my timing chain right now.you'll have to get a gasket set to replace the front seal on the timing cover.unless the cover is cracked anywhere (like mine was), then all you need is that gasket set. timing chain sets go from about $40 for a basic stock replacement set and up to about $100 or so for a good racing quality set.also since you have to remove the harmonic balancer anyway, check the rubber that separates the 2 pieces of the balancer to make sure it isnt bad,or you'll want to replace that too. good luck

![]() I went with the timing gear because I heard it sounded cool. It is louder than the exhaust most of the time. It doesn't really sound like a supercharger but morons will think it is. Normally people just look at me weird wondering what that noise is on top of an already loud engine.

![]() I too am looking into getting a new timing chain/gear. They make "quiet" timing gears. How much quieter is it then a "normal" or "loud" timing gear? I would really like to get the gear instead of the chain but I don't want to be able to hear it.
