Default Timing Questions?

Stupid question here---

Every vehicle I've dealt with, turning the distributor counter-clockwise advanced the timing and clockwise retarteds the timing. Does this hold true on a 5.0?

Also, how many degrees at an idle should it be set at?

Yes ,10 deg. timing with the spout connector removed.
