Unhappy Timing troubles

about a week ago i broke a oil pump shaft that goes into the distributer and had to buy a whole new distributer, cap and rotor. I installed it a started to get it running but then the timing was set but the car had a little slow reponse to the throttle, so i shut it down and started it back up again after about ten minutes to eat and then it wouldnt restart. i didnt touch anything, but the little modual that goes on the side of the distributer was not tighted down all the way so it wasent getting a good connection to the distributer and so i held it while a friend started it and it worked for a second and then stopped. Now it wont fire anymore and i know the timing is right and everything, but there are two things i think that could be wrong, which are the spark plugs got fouled from trying to start it or the module is screwed up. I need some opionions on what could be wrong or what to check for. I have new ford racing wires and the plugs were new, the only thing stock is the coil on the ignition. Please help!! Thanks!
