A TIP FOR U

SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT IF YOU ARE HAVING PROBLEMS WITH YOUR ENGINES IDLE OR OFF IDLE VARIATIONS. WHAT I HAVE FOUND OUT IS THAT IF YOUR MAF SENSOR IS READING A FLOW OF AIR FROM AN ALTERNATE SOURE, YOUR ENGINES COMPUTER WILL COMPENSATE FOR THE DIFFERENCE AND WILL CHANGE THE AIR\FUEL RATIO. THIS WILL CAUSE DRIVEABILITY PROBLEMS, WHICH IN MY CASE DISTURBES THE F*** OUT OF ME. I HOPE THIS BIT OF INFO IS OF HELP TO YOU.

What is an "Alternate Source"?

WHAT I MEAN BY ALTERNATE SOURCE IS YOUR COOLING FAN, MAYBE U HAVE A RAM AIR KIT OR YOU LIVE IN A WINDY PLACE.

How does air from your cooling fan or ram air set up get into the engine without first going through your mass air meter?

If you have a cone type filter in your engine compartment that is not shrouded from the cooling fan, you can experience some fan wash problems effecting the air entering the engine. But, even in this case the air still goes through the meter first, it just may not be the same amount if it was properly shrouded.

The only way I could see air from an 'alternate source' getting in an causing problems is a vacuum leak in the intake tract between the MAF and the cylinder heads.
If you have extra air coming in from a ram air kit the computer compensates properly for this type of thing and more air + more fuel per time in the proper proportions is more power.
