My new suspension worked! .4 off 1/8 mile time!

I went to evergreen speedway in Monroe, Washington tonight (last night) and just got home. I'm so psyched i just beat the 9.05 1/8 mile time (which was en route to a 13.991 run) with a 8.657 run tonight, i actually got somewhat decent traction with NO WHEELHOP (ongoing problem since i've had the car, finally fixed). This was with 225 street tires, rain on the track, engine at full operating temperature from coming off the freeway and no VHT to boot! I only got 2 runs in because the light rain turned heavy and my other run i spun all 3 gears across the 1/8th to a fishtailing 9.219. Man am i happy i spent the money to buy the proper suspension. 1st gear is actually usable now I just thought i'd toot my own horn, i finally got a decent ET! YAY! I'm also going on sunday to a 1/4 mile track to see what the 1/4 time is.
Unfortunately the MPH sensors weren't working so i didn't get a mph reading, but i'll live with just the ET for now.

wow thas great! thats alot to pickup in the 1/8 mile!! can't wait to see what it'll pick you up in the quarter mile. What was your 60' time??

unfortunately they didn't have the 60ft sensors....it is a VERY low budget track, which angers me because i really wanted the 60ft time at the very least. Not only that but i spent $25 for two runs until it rained out Hopefully there is good weather tomarrow so i can get the 'stang out to the 1/4 mile strip that actually has all the good stuff. Seattle International Raceway (now pacific raceways - has 1/8th, 1/4, 60ft, mph at both marks).

What suspension work did you do?? 1/4 time maybe 13.5- 13.6 range.

I installed BBK subframe connectors, Moroso trick springs (4), lakewood 70/30 struts, Steeda double adjustable upper control arms, granatelli weight jacker lowers, welded torque boxes. I also adjusted my pinion angle to 3*. Pacific Raceways (formerly Seattle International) was rained out today so i was unable to go racing which means i'll have to wait a couple of weeks (the 2 - 1/4 mile drag strips i can go to are closed for whatever reason.)

How do you like the lakewood's over the stock ones? How do they handle and such, on the street and the track? I'm very close to picking up a set myself and want to make sure there worth it.

I love the lakewood struts, the front end lifts awesome and is maintained perfectly under throttle and settles if you're driving normal. The only thing i don't like is 100+ mph on an open freeway the car will catch ruts/wind and want to do it's own thing, especially under WOT. That's my only complaint. Under normal driving the ride is VERY nice and controlled and driving away from all stops is fun

I also have to agree with having the right suspension for your car first. It makes it SOOOOO much more fun to drive when you can actually hook up whether it's around corners or from a stop.

Great that's what I was looking for. I can deal with some slight play in the suspension. I rarely go over 80 let along 100+ mph on the highway. I try to obey the law and save the crazy driving for the ricers, and well at the track.

Yeah, i don't normally go over 80 either, but with my car together and the winter season pretty much over (not as much rain.....monsoon season is ending here in seattle) a dry, clear freeway sometimes calls my name while i see if from the onramp.....temptation will do me in one of these days

I might make a trip or two down to Pacific this year, the schedule at Mission Raceway park gets pretty soft in June so I'll have to head down there, I'll let you know if I'm coming down.

That sounds awesome, red82gt, i should be around the track alot, i've put my schedule to accomodate my drag racing habit. i've even saved up quite a bit of money so i'm able to pay entrance to as much racing as i want to do (hard to do when you're a college student).
Definately let me know, that would be fun to get another mustanger out there.

You're in College too? Cool. I write my last exam next tuesday and after that I'll have my B Sc, in geological sciences
I'll let you know when I'm coming down, they seem to have a bunch of street legals. Also , you should come up here to Mission raceway park, $23 Canadian to race street legals, and if you get there by 5 you'll get at least 5 runs.

Wait till you get to play with someone on the street, when you get out on them, they will smash on it more, spin more and loss worse. It is awesome. Your mph may not have improved at all. You will have to get to a track with good equipment to find out.
