TRACK RESULTS on new combo inside.......
Well I went to the track and right off the trailer on my 26" x 10.5" ET STREETS it went 12.60 @ 111 on a 4000rpm launch 1.89 60ft speed shifting the T-5, I then bumped the fuel and went 12.24 @ 112.4 on a 1.71 on a 5000rpm launch, I red lighted on the third pass but they had call backs and I went up for one more pass,Launched at 5500rpm, POWER SHIFTED and it went 12.160 @111.19 on a 1.645 60ft WHEELS UP BABY, 88.94mph in the 1/8 7.732 1/8 mile.
Man was I happy for the first time out to go low, low 12's was great because I still have the 3:73's and the cam calls for 4:30-4:56's which I need now because I am only going through the traps at 5200rpm which is around 1000 rpm too low. I plan on getting up to the track for a test and tune to try to get some more passes where I can play with the tuning, I forgot to put air in my Eibach bag so that was empty the whole day. I would like to try to squeeze out a 11 sec pass with the 3:73's I think it can do it, for the first time out on this chassis and motor I am happy, very happy . I weighed the car and it weighs 3172 with driver, and I weigh 190 not too bad for a semi-stripped 302ci GT daily driver. Now I really do need to do the rear, my 180K mile stock traction loc and axles aren't going to take this abuse, although both wheels still spin every time. I am looking at either a setup with 33 or 31 splines and a new center carrier plus my swap to 4:30's. ------------------ Check Out My Site 91GT,Holley SysteMAX II Kit-Heads 2.02" x 1.60" port matched to a 1262,Anderson N-61,24#,76mm C&L,Full MAC exhaust 1-5/8" Long tubes,2-1/2" O.R H-Pipe,2 1/2" cat back, No A/C or PS or emissions, 12" K&N Filter,RNH PERFORMANCE Ram Air,Ron Davis Radiator,Full Suspension,S&W 8pt "X" brace,JAZ seats,3:73's,Welds..etc,4:30's and 31 splines coming very soon! Great times!!! That's an impressive daily driver, I'll tell ya that. I'm hoping to get into the 12's on motor with my combo.
Hows the Eibach drag launch kit with your 70/30's for driving? I'm considering that same setup but I've been cautious about how it might be for the daily commute. |

Thanks 86, the 70/30 and Eibach kit are fine for daily driving no problems at all, of course I do have skinnies so I don't take turns fast anyways. I really wish I would have remebered to put air in that air bag, oh well

Damn Rick! Very impressive.. I think 300rwhp is definitely not out of the question. Makes me wonder what kinda times my car could have done N/A making 290rwhp/315rwtq with a much better driver then I am. So, when are the 4.30's going in? I'm sure next time you post your timeslip, it will have a strong 11 second pass on it. I'll be looking for that post in a week or so. Again, congratulations!

WOW Rick- those are great times! What track was that at? TCTC is still taking reservations for their track day at Keystone Raceway- are you planning on going? Remember I got 13 passes last year, though I could have had 20+ if I didn't cool down! I started on my car friday night and should have the motor out of the car tonight- its already connected to the cherry picker! I can't believe I've had these AFR heads for 2 months now and still don't have them on!
BTW- we still don't have all the parts for my dad's car yet, but we will shortly. He has gone 13.6 at 98.97mph with a 1.89 60' with just the same setup he has had, though we did add the C&L 76mm MAF with 19lb tube. ------------------ 95 GT convt' 5 speed, 3.73's,FMS HD clutch, Pro 5.0 shifter, ASP alum. underdrive pulleys, Bassani offroad X pipe, 2 chmbr flowmasters, K&N w/o silencer, edelbrock performer intake, FRPP 65mm T-body, FRPP shorty headers, FRPP aluminum driveshaft.Hooker 4pt chrome car bar, Xenon/Wings West ground effects, custom interior Best ET: 13.83 Best MPH: 98.55mph with Best 60': 1.91 on Nitto DR's Homepage: <A HREF="http://www.angelfire.com/pa2/killercanary" TARGET=_blank>http://www.angelfire |

Well guys I am hoping for 350RWHP and I think it has a little more mph in I hope to go sub 1.50 short times with the 4:30's which will also put me up in my good hp range above 5000rpms. Holley advertises 350HP with the standard kit with the smaller valve heads, my buddy dyno'd his and made 298RWHP so the kit will make 350FLHP. I hope that with some tweaking and the mild clean up an polish job I did I will see 340-350RWHP so a little over 400RWHP. But my biggest goal was to get it in the 11's, it's a stock bottom end and piston car, still 302ci. I am shooting for 11.50's with the rear done and some tuning.
Paul it was at Mason Dixion for the Street Race, can you send me the info on the meet again. Rick91GT@onemain.com. Well I think dynos are wack. I have to get to a new one. I dynoed 332rwhp with a 107mph trap in a heavier car, but still.
I think there is tuning to come. HP doesn't mean **** ! Its what the car does at the track. Sky ------------------ -1989 Saleen Mustang #406- TFS Heads, E-303, edelbrock intake,70MM TB, 73mm MAF, off road H, headers and 3chamber flows. 12.55@107mph 50-175 Nitrous Works WET Kit just added. |

Yeah your right I am more concerend baout how fast it is in the quarter, I would like nice HP numbers but hey I can say I have a NA 302 that goes 11's, I don't see a lot of people doing that. I need to do the rear before I take it to the dyno that way I can see the power and tirque curve with the 4:30's in the rear. Sky what N20 system did you get, did you get it done and test it yet? Nice job, Rick!
As for some dyno # comparisons: I dyno'd (on a Dynojet C248 or something like that) the following: 290 RWHP 312 RWTQ I run 13.1's and 13.2's @ 106 mph with 3.55 gears, 2.1 60's, 3250 lbs. race weight (w/me), on BFG drag radials and pretty much stock suspension. E PS - Rick, with new gears, I think high 11's are definately within your reach. Good luck! ------------------ 1991 5.0 LX Coupe - 38,000 miles 13.17 @ 106.14 mph w/ 2.138 60' |

Great job Rick! That sounds like a pretty mean ride you got there. Do you still have your rear seat? I yanked mine out and I'm kinda regretting it now because I have two buddies at work and whenever we go to lunch we always pile in one car. Can't do that now with my car, and the only other guy that drives has a two seater pickup
So how'd it feel getting the front wheels off the ground? I can't wait to pull my first wheelie. I want to get new torque boxes welded in before I get that crazy though. Are you guys still making those? My car's running a little better, but not much. And now my oil pressure is dropping at idle when it never did before. If it goes I'll definately be doing the 351 swap. ------------------ Too much to list. AMAZING! quite nice. and my personal opinion would be that you are closer to 350 at the wheels than 300. although that is a fairly broad gap. you must be a pretty darn good driver as well!
just promise me not to hit 11's till i hit 12's!!!!! j/k and i agree,,, h.p. schmorsepower. if i had 450 h.p. but get repeatedly beat at the track by something that had 275 than i would not care at all about the horsepower numbers! i agree, its who crosses the line first that impresses the majority of us more. Thanks Kev and the rear seat is long gone due to the design of my cage, the kicker bars go right to the top of the torque boxes and the bar is welded right between the bolts that hold in my RNH PERFORMANCE Torque Box kit yes we still make them, let me know when your interested it did make a difference in my car. It felt really nice to pull the fron twhells and with the way my suspenison is I get 10" or so in between the front fender and tire before the wheel comes off the ground. The car feels so different with the cage and being strapped in that 5pt harness takes some time gettign use to. But it launched hard and straight when I let the clutch fly at 5500rpm, and the T-5 and 8.8 stayed together.
What is your oil pressure? and it should drop from WOT to idle but will stay steady. I have also tossed around a 351 for my next motor and I think you have a good combo going but I would lose that F-cam and go to a different grind you don't need the low end torque of the F wit that beefy Windsor. Quin- I plan on getting to the track in a couple weeks for a try at the 11's this time at night in some cooler weather it was 80+ degrees when I was racing Saturday. I just hope that stock rear will take a couple more passes. Hey is there a event in Ohio later in the year maybe I'll make the trip down since OH really isn't that far. ------------------ Check Out My Site 91GT,Holley SysteMAX II Kit-Heads 2.02" x 1.60" port matched to a 1262,Anderson N-61,24#,76mm C&L,Full MAC exhaust 1-5/8" Long tubes,2-1/2" O.R H-Pipe,2 1/2" cat back, No A/C or PS or emissions, 12" K&N Filter,RNH PERFORMANCE Ram Air,Ron Davis Radiator,Full Suspension,S&W 8pt "X" brace,JAZ seats,3:73's,Welds..etc,4:30's and 31 splines coming very soon!
