![]() I am about to wire in a Holley blue pump to get rid of my vapor lock problem. I read on one of the forums that I can wire it in to the same wires that were for the original fuel pump, and even without the computer it will still work. I need to know two things. 1. Is this true?
2. Will the inertia cut-off switch work as well wired this way?

![]() vapor lock? what is your setup? you shouldnt have any vapor lock on fuel injection. its pressurized, so i dont see how you can get it.
but to answer you question, yes. yes you can. ONLY if you use a relay for the blue pump. it will work just like the stock one and the inertia will work on this one, but DO NOT just tap off the wires without running a relay!

![]() I am running a carb not fuel injection. Why would I have to run a relay from the stock fuel pump wires when there is already a relay there? I was trying to utilize the stock wiring so that the pump would only come on when the ignition is on, and if the car was hit from the rear, the pump would be turned off.

![]() i assume you were running FI when you said fuel pump wiring. i see now. the computer controls the fuel pump. it looks for power coming from the ignition switch then i think it powers up the EEC relay, then that relay sends power to the pump relay. dont have a diagram for you. if you want, i have ShopKey at work. tell me the year and i will get you the info.

![]() It is an 88. I remember reading a post where a guy wrote that he liked to hook up the pump to the stock wiring to extrernal pumps because the relay still worked without the computer.

![]() I finally found the post. It was by Slo94 on the Corral:
Qoute: fuel line Don't use stock fuel line! Run some big-daddy stuff and use a good pump! Make sure that baby's got plenty of volume. BTW... I always like to do this on a carb convert... Take out your driver seat and you'll find the fuel pump relay, ground the tan wire w/green stripe and it should put power to the fuel pump wires in the back of the car (with key on)even without the ECM in the car! Then you can hook up your pump and it's operated by the ignition switch still!! Hope this helps!! Thanks for the help though. This was what I was looking for!

![]() well that would work, but make sure you dont leave the key on and the engine off!! then it will pour out of your car! you should get a seperate switch for it though, in my opinion so you dont acidentally leave it on

![]() I was thinking of running it this way and having a seperate switch to act as a safety / kill switch.
