Tranny sounds like a rock crusher!!
 

Hey guys. My T-5 tranny in my 92 is sounding really bad. It just started. It sounds like a rock is being thrown around in the tranny. It doesn't do it all the time. You can hear it rattling around. If you play with the RPM's for a little bit it sounds like it gets picked up and thrown around and then settles back down again. I haven't done anything to the car lately. A few weeks ago I replaced the harmonic balancer and pulleys and installed an electric fan, but it did not make that noise. Having the car in neutral or in gear does not seem to matter. I've also pushed on the clutch while the noise is there and it still does it, so I'm not sure if the throw out bearing is at fault. Any ideas?? The tranny also has 172,000 miles on it. :eek: It shifts and drives fine. Thanks.

Sounds like you knocked a tooth off a gear or synchronizer. Gettin bounced around in the tranny. Not good. Start looking for a replacement!

Well that's not good. I figure I have to take it out anyways to investigate. Is Hanlon motorsports the best place to buy a rebuild kit? When I did a search, everyone seems to like them. Summit has a rebuild kit for around $250. Thanks for the replies.

Death whine! Nooooo.....Oh well, at least I have tons of money. Oh wait a minute, that's right, I'm broke. Here's the kicker. My backup car belongs to my dad, it's a 97 mitsubishi eclipse complete with cold air intake and fart can!! Automatic trans no less. You wouldn't think a guy with an 11 second 65 Plymouth and 01 Mustang GT would own a rice car.

Your dad needs some help. Not because he owns the mitsubishi, but because of the fart can. Does it have a body kit too? LOL.
