Post transmission!?

I have two questions in this one concerning the tranny and one the speedo-gear. Well i finally got my 89 gt on a lift the other day and i was looking at the tranny- it was a borg-worner. my dad was shocked cause he said in the 60's they were strickly a gm tranny. SO what i was wondering is if this was the stock tranny for a 5.0!?

the other question about my speedo gear. When i am goin 50 mph in my car i am really going 35. and when i am going 95 in my car i am realy going 70. so (assuming that i have 3.73 gears ) how many splines around the gear do i need to bring it back down to the right mph?

You will have to know how many teeth are on the DRIVE gear (the gear that's inside the tranny, on the output shaft), and you will also have to know the the rear gear ratio, and the tire size, to figure the needed DRIVEN gear (gear on the end of the speedometer cable). Take a look at your transmission I.D. tag, and post it back here. It will tell me what DRIVE gear you have. The code numbers to look for should read something like; 13-52-199. If I know this number, and the other variables, I can tell you what driven gear you will need to correct your speedometer reading.

Yes, Borg Warner made the stock T5.
