t-bird transmission swap?
here's a stupid question!!! i was told by someone who, will remain unnamed, that a automatic transmission from a 1990 6 cylinder t-bird will bolt to my 1989 lx 5.0.
i find this hard to beleive. i can't imagine that it would stand up to the 5.0 engine. is there any truth here? |

Well i believeit will work because all it is an AOD. One difference internally that i know is that the clutches arn't as good. So i hope that helps.

That's right - there are less clutches in the direct and I believe intermediate clutch packs. Not that they can't be added fairly easily. Check www.tccoa.com, their tech articles, in "trans 101", and check www.baumannengineering.com. All depends on what you have to pay for it.
