Tremec in '95-Longer Driveshaft

I recently had a Tremec 3550 installed in my '95. Everything seems fine, BUT I have read where the driveshaft needs to be lengthened by 5/8 of an inch. I looked under the car, and sure enough the stock driveshaft is on there, and you can see it is about that far out from the original wear pattern on the yoke. Is this going to hurt anything? I am looking at an aluminium driveshaft, but is it going to be the right length? I know they used the Tremec in the Cobra R, do they have a part number for that driveshaft?

Whether or not the drive shaft needs to be lengthened all depends on the car. On some you might have to, on others you might not. There is enough difference from car to car, that you can safely say there is no number written in stone. When I put my TKO in my 94 I had to have the shaft lengthened. If I remember right, you measure from the end of the tailhousing to the center of the u joint. You want between 2 1/2 and 3 inches here. Hope this helps.
