Post shifting problem

Ok, Today i was driving down the interstate and a mustang gt passed me... Well it looked exactly like mine so i speed up to see how close it was to mine... Well he thought i was challenging him and he hit it full bore... This prevoked me so i caught up and starting playing with him by passing him while he was at top speed and slowing down and doing it again.

Anyways heres the problem... The last time i passed the person i put it down into 4th and went by him... Well i was done screwing around so i gently went into 5th... It wasn't there and the shifter itself went completely forward... I could actually touch the shifter knob to the council. It is a Pro 5.0 shifter. I pulled it back and found 4th but couldnt really find 5th again till i had stopped. Then it did this one more time, and after that i can't get it to do it again... Anybody have any idea of what happened? Should I be looking for new tranny mounts or something?

Sorry it was so long.

Cool

1982, I am putting a T-5 together this morning for a freind. His t-5 lost fifth gear, casual driving. Then two days later it lost 1-4 and is currently stuck in fourth. I have not torn down the one from his car yet to see what the problem is, that should done today. I'll let you know what we find. Their is almost no chance that the problem can be fixed with out removing the tranny.

Well i fixed the problem... it was simple, one of the bolts on my shifter handle came out and when i would push at the right angle for fifth it would miss the bottom bolt and go all the way foward, and for the other gears the bottom bolt was in just enough to cetch. Im just relieved and feel retarded for asking for help.

Dont feel bad, after i put my clutch in, put the shifter on, started it i was excited to drive it, but it wouldnt go into 1st gear in my driveway, it just grinded, after a panic, and few obcenities, i decided to calm down, and check out everything, turned out the adjustable stop was out of place on the shifter, not allowing it to go into gear....glad you got it fixed.

I had problems with the bolts in my pro 5.0 backing out.
It happened once when my girlfriend borrowed the car, was that ever funny, you know how girls are and she was worried she actually broke something.

anyways, they are new locktited in there and I've never had a problem since. I recommend you do this because mine backed out 2 or 3 times before I did this
