Tremec users must read!
 

Hey everyone. I'm going to be running a Tremec TKO, but there is a problem. I need to use a scattershield but I've been told (by a very reputible shop) that people who use this combo have shifting problems. It is the clutch fork, not the trans. They say the length of the stock fork is incorrect because of the way it is attached to the scattershield. The stock fork must be modified since there is not an aftermarket one out there. This is not a prob with alum tremec bellhousing, but I can't use that. Anybody using a TKO w/ scattershield that have this prob? Any solutions/ home remedies? Love to hear from you. THX

Actually they do sell longer ones now, but they are around $90.:( I have a tremec and a Mcleod safety bell, and you can tell that the pull on the fork by the cable is not exactly perfect, but I have been using the stock one with no problems. I have heard of others doing the same. All the aftermarket one that I saw a picture of really looked like is a stock one cut and lengthened a bit and welded back. If you have a welder, you can do it yourself. I was going to, but since it worked the way it was, I figured why bother.;)

Yep. Mike's right. I've got a McLeod saftey bell too and the stock fork is fine. And if you do need a longer one you can just buy one.

You may want to check out D&D Performance. This is where I purchased my Tremec from and these guys know tranny's period. Good guys, good prices and lots of great information.

I used the scattershield bellhousing with the longer TKO fork.
Worked with both the aluminum bellhousing and scattershiled housing...
