Question Trickflow twisted wedge heads

I just bought a 91 GT and am buying a set of twisted wedge heads, Will i have adequte valve-to-piston clearance if i run a cam with .512 of lift on it and keep the stock pistons?

Trickflow claims flycut pistons are not required if you use a street performance cam, but how much lift is that?

I am going to be running a holly systmax intake with these heads, any recomendations on a cam? I am thinking about the F303.

That F303 will fit w/o problems, its just a tick bigger than my cam. Honestly, i'd stay away from the fms cams and look towards a real cam. The holley intake is a big intake and the lower ports are matched to a 1262 gasket whereas the tfs heads are matched to a 1250 so you will have a mismatch. If your planning an off the shelf cam, i'd look towards the tfs 2 cam, comp cams xe cams or the anderson cams. Just my inexperienced $.02. My guess is if you cam the car correctly, that holley intake will work good, but if you cam poorly, it'll just be an overkill.

Default cam selection

I am probably going to go with one of the extreme cams from comp cams. Any suggestions?

Cool

Cant really help w/ which cam to get. I see your in Huntington, i'm in Lynbrook. Where do you hang out?

StreetStang37, I recommend 18* timing. Make a pass as is, then try 18* and you should pick up a little mph like 1-2. Also see how your car likes around 42psi fp or more. I was told this is a good setting for my car and our cars are very close. Post your times when you get back!

My current stang is the green one (now with Cobra R's), it has 55,000 miles on it. I just bought it. I used to take the all white GT in the background to DPA alot last summer.

I've seen that car at dpa. Do you sometimes park it in the lot where wendys is? Besides mine, you never see emereld green mustangs there, so I remember the ones I see. Does that car have all that work done to it, or is it the white one w/ the work done to it?

I usually park by Wendys or in the lot with the other stangs. Right now the green stang has everything except the heads and cam. I am switching everything real soon. Any pics of your car?

The TFS heads are good to .540 lift with the stock pistons.

The F-cam would be fine. I would recommend the B with 1.7 rockers. Same lift as the F but a little more duration.

If you want to spend some $, you cant go wrong with a custom cam.
