Trouble! Cant remove upper intake plenum

I started to switch the 88 cougar motor over to carb, and I cant get the upper efi intake plenum off. I removed 4 bolts (stock efi intake), and I can only get the plenum to move a bit clockwise and counter clockwise, are there more bolts maybe? (I didnt see any).

there should be 6 bolts if i can remember right ..remove the plate with 4 screws off the upper plenum and you should find more underneath. this is a 5.0 motor we are talkin about right?

Yeah, 5.0, never thought to look under the plate, thanks.

Its the simple things that drive you nutz buddy... I know the feeling!

I second that thought!

I usually spend 90% of my time agonizing over the 1 or 2 stripped/badly placed bolts and 10% of my time doing the actual work!

Going carb? Good man! Ever since I switched my 91 to a carb, it has only stalled once, and then I sprayed some carb cleaner into it and it started right back up. I had a breakdown every other month with efi! Sure cleans up the enginebay too!

My next project I want to go carb just old school hot rod. Nice 4 barrel carb, big cam, no P/S, some long tube headers, and all the other bolt on's I can get in there but I do like the look of the engine bay on a carb'd motor rather then EFI

i agree with that.. I to love the cleanliness of the carbs..
