Default Truck wont start HELP

hey i got a 72 f250 that wont start and i need some help, im 14 years old. the truck has a ford 360CI FE V8 the truck was running then it just stoped running and it won't start. the engine is geting gas, spark, and it has good compression. It has new points and the timing was right. but it wont fire. but went i was working on it tonight i found out that the carb is blowing air out insted of pulling air in. so what would make that happen?? , did the cam or timeing chain break or something? thanks

Timing chain is my first suspect. Line that sucker up on TDC, yank the cap and see where the rotor is pointing, then go from there.

The other thing I've had happen to me is the roll pin holding the gear on the dist. broke. Only happened once before, but it's worth checking out.

Like I said, line her up on TDC, yank the cap. See where the rotor is pointing, should be at #1 spark plug wire. THEN see if you can turn the rotor by hand. If you can turn the rotor, either the roll pin went, or the dist gear. If you can't turn it and the rotor isn't where it should be, then it's the timing chain.

I'm puttin donuts to dollars its the chain...

hey thanks for the help. It was the timeing chain and gears, they wore out so the chain jumped when it deid,i need to learn how to shift better so i dont kill the engine. so i have to order a new chain and gears set and put it on and time it. Then it should run i think.

thanks for the site. I got my truck running, today i had a friend over and his dad brought his truck over and we were racing thought the feilds and tearing the ground up. Then we when Mud Boging in my pond and his truck sank in a really muddy spot and the engine sucked in water though the carb. so i tried pulling it out with my f250 but if was just flinging mud everwhere and not moveing it. so i tried pulling it out with my bronco and after pulling a coupple wheelies it ripped it out. so now we have to drane out the oil in it, because of the water and try to get it running tomorro.
