typhoon vs edelbrock
I know typhoon is pretty much just a knock off of edelbrock intake manifolds, but do they flow just as good? I want my car to be fast but im only a 19year old student thats tight on cash.

Not as good. The castings aren't as pretty. It's a knockoff RPM intake. Lots of guys run them and make really good numbers...I have one also. You get what you pay for when it comes to looks, but the performance is there IMO.
I have the polished version which is VERY nice on the outside. I also cleaned up the runners with a dremel. So, for the cost of a regular Performer, I have a polished version of an RPM. I think it's a great deal. |

Out of the box the Edelbrock is nicer. But for the price difference, you can spend some time on the Typhoon with a die grinder, and it will flow just as good.

I have one and have done some porting to it.
Looks even better than the edelbrock. Follow what Jim has to say he is a local racer that had a gutted out gt-40 way way ported. he took an out of the box typhoon did what I did. Before the car never ran below 12.3 now he's breaking 11's http://www.fordmuscle.com/archives/2...ke/index.shtml He's they guy doing the job at the top.

fostang i have question about that local guy you know. I got intersted in the project green machine II article basically because it is identical to my car except i have a 5 speed. How did he get low 13's with stock heads/cam/intake??? I was looking and all i could find was that he had higher fuel pressure,18* timing, headers, and a bigger mass air. Is that capable of low 13's in an automatic or am i missing something?

On a mild 302 combo, the longer runner edelbrock usually is a better choice. I've had 3 edelbrock intakes, and the quailty is worth the added money IMO. I use an RPM now, but I have a polished performer upper which looks better than the Typhoon IMO.

Actually he hit 13's after he swapped out the tranny for a t-5z from his 66' which by the way still still sits in his driveway trannyless. LOL
Jim is a crazy driver. He gets the most out of that car. Leaving the line at 4500 rpm with drag radials will get you amazing results.

I have read several articles and comparisons, and from what I remember, with the Edlebrock, you are paying for a name. There was a negligable difference in the flow numbers, if any. I dont remember the specifics, I just remember almost buying the typhoon, because the performance and price were right.
