![]() are drag rad.(bfgs, nittos) to much for my stock 28 spline axles cause I am sick of these crappy 60ft so when I get the cash I would like to get some real tires but I dont want to put them on and go out and break a axle and have to pay 250$ to have my ride towed home from the strip.

![]() I still have stock axles and launch mine VERY hard on full slicks with no problems (yet
![]() Unless you are at a very sticky track, and are launching very very hard, then theres absolutely nothing to worry about on DR's

![]() From what I gather, it is a crap-shoot on gambling with axles. Some of them break running 14's and some hold up running 11's. If you're worried about it, then don't do it. If you want to break under 2.0 in your 60' times, then you'll almost have to get better tires. Changing from 2.73 to 3.73 gears and adding Mickey ET streets dropped mine from 2.2's to 1.9's. After doing some more work on the car, I'm in the 1.8's now and no problems with the axles. Other's are running a lot lower 60's than that with stock axles so you would probably be ok. I'm sure there is the chance you've got a Mon. morning or Fri. afternoon made axle that might not be up to standard, but don't we all.

![]() I don't know anyone who broke an axle on a fox body with drag radials. I know a bunch of guys who broke axles in modulars with d/r's though. I know a guy in an 89 gt who launched his car over 200 times with slicks and stock axles and never had a problem. I wouldn't worry a bit about running D/R's on stock axles. I ran mine for over a year with no problems, ran slicks several times launching at about 5k and didn't have a prob either.

89LX said it best,it is a crap-shoot with any sticky tire and an aggressive launch,I broke an axle on the street in a 82 GT 4-speed with Michelin TRX tires on it go figure. To answer your question,Drag Radials are a little more forgiving then slicks, but once again it is a crap-shoot. Good luck and 250 dollars for towing? I would push it first.

![]() I see your concern then,I would get the Drag Radials you can also drive there on them get tech'ed have a good time and leave.
If you have friends and you really want to push the envelope rent a tow dolly from U-haul LOL that was a joke but it could work just as well if catastrophe does strike. I know about being far away from dragstrips and I understand that,Ennis is over 45 miles from me when I am home, but I am lucky here at KPen Carlsbad is only 20 miles away and I go with plenty of friends when I go.
