Vacum Problems
Just bought my first Mustang and I'm almost in heaven. Problem is I had to rebuild the motor due to a broken crankshaft. My current problem is I dont know where this damn vacum goes. Its actually a connection for four vacum lines on the passenger side near the firewall, right above where the check valves should be. Can any body tell me what this is for?

Sorry it took so long for a reply mank, but here you go if you havent figured it out already:
On the fenderwell side of the 4-line connector you will see a 1 red, 1 green, 1 white and 1 black line. The line that connects to the red one goes directly to the back of the upper intake, this line should be long and black. The line connecting to the green one is short and white, and connects to the egr valve on the throttle body. The line that connects to the gray one goes to the lower egr valve, located down by the pass. side headers. The last line I THINK goes to the smog pump? or somewhere around it. I ripped the lower egr and all the hoese associated with it out, as well as the smog pump, so on my car onlt the lines to the intake, and egr are left. Hopefully this helps you out some. |
vacuum lines

So did you plug the hard vacuum lines that used to go to the smog stuff? I too have removed my smog pump, charcoal canister and all of those lines on the passenger side of the engine comparment above the header. The one that used to go down to the smog stuff broke off right at that black connector that connects all 4 of those lines. Do you think that is ok? Should I plug it? It doesn't seem like there is any vacuum sucking or leaking right there. Maybe since I removed all of that smog equipment...it doesn't need to be plugged?? What do you think? Thanks- Simi |
I know what you mean about the lines not seeming to have any vacuum. I plugged mine just to make sure.

I think I pulled the hard line out and stuck a short bolt in it and put a tie wrap around it.
