Post Victor 5.0 Intake

I am wondering if anyone running the Victor 5.0 EFI intake are having any heat problems. Since the intake does'nt have a water transfer port at the back of the intake. The new 347 we put in our car runs hot doing any idling. I have all the good cooling stuff and it just keeps on climbing. Runs just fine on the road and under hard accel conditions. Just pegs out if idled. Thanks.

I doubt it has anything to do with the Victor 5.0 manifold. SBF intakes don't have or need a water crossover in the back. Look at a stock or Cobra intake.

Coolant flows from the water pump through the block (down both cylinder banks front to back, then up and through the heads (back to front), then into the manifold's front crossover and out the thermostat to the radiator. That's why when you install the head gaskets it's imperative that they are installed correctly with the water passages in back open and in the front blocked off.

Sounds like you don't have enough air flow through the radiator at idle. Stock mechanical fan? Shroud? Underdrive pulleys? Electric fan?

I was having heat problems with my 347..I put in a electrical fan in front of the radiator for stop and go driving..That took care of most of my heating probs..

Did you have to mill the intake and port your heads to accept the Vic 5.0?

I've got AFR 185cc heads and stopped down at the engine shop the other day. The builder shined a flashlight down into the runners. It was interesting to say the least. The heads had a set of 1262 gaskets on them and I could see the silicon bead along the roof of the intake. So the lower needs to be milled about 80 thousandths and the roof of the intake runner needs to be squared off and blended back into the port

Well the police fan is crap, it's a power robbing piece of junk, mine broke while i was going 40 mph, and cost me a radiator, i got a blacmagic fan, run cooler, and knocked of a good amount of time on e.t.'s.
