I know you said you dont want to get rid of your mufflers, but I'd say get some headers and single chamber flows. It'll be loud as hell.

I'd go with BBK longtubes, 3" pipes the whole way-X-pipe with Flowmaster delta-force single chambers w/turndowns. It would be loud as ****, but sound good also. Open pipes sound kind of shitty until you get on it, maybe check out a set of dynomax race bullets.

ditch the headers, run open heads!
If you want to get loud, just as mentioned, get 3" exhaust, a race style muffler (or none at all) and dumps right after the muffler with no tailpipes. THAT would be loud.

Unless you're running some serious mods, a 3 in. system might sound good but I think it might rob some power. What's the good with having a loud bark but no teeth?? I've got equal-length shorty headers, an X pipe, and dual Flowmasters (I think 2 chambers..dont know, all previous owner equipment) without tips or turndowns..it's not INSANELY loud but it's PLENTY loud enough from in the cabin..easily outsounds the stereo...and it constantly turns heads.

I have a 94 cobra 5.0 i have full bassani exhaust. bassani shorty headers, bassani x-pipe, bassani mufflers with turndowns. i had pipes out the back but i wanted to more agressive louder sound.
i seriously recommend that you get an x-pipe. it sounds really good and loud as hell! |
