Weird Radiator problem.... Please check this out
My radiator is a 2 core, and its always been working great. the temp stays between 130 and the next line. Recently i had to change my timing chain and I also change my cam. When everything was back on the car, it ran great with the same temperture.
The weird this is now that every morning when I check the water, its half way down. Now I always check if there was any leaks. Anywhere on the engine and on the floor. I could be stuck in traffic and the car don't leak water. When I'm all done driving still no water to be found. I check the oil and it looks normal. I did not see any milky stuff in the oil. Its all fine and dandy! Now where is all my radiator water going?? This is very weird. remember NO LEAKS NO MILKY STUFF IN OIL NO SIGN OF NOTHING. Its just goes away..

Do you have an overflow tank? is it dry? if you don't have one, then it could be your cap.
Take care, -Chris

I had the same problem, actually it just lost a little coolant, i couldnt figure out where? you need to check all the little heater hoses under the hood, like once every 2 weeks i check my radiator and it needs just a little to top it off.....dunno

Could have a head gasket going away and loosing water into a cylinder(s). A static compression check might show something. Also check for bubbles in the radiator when the car is running after is has warmed up and the thermostat is cycling. Check the heater core as well, it could be leaking there, but I'd think you would have smelled antifreeze in the passenger compartment. The cooling system should be a sealed system, so it should be disappearing. Continuing coolant loss is definitely trying to tell you that something is wrong somewhere.

Mine doesn't loose that much but I have noticed that when it is idleing cold (I think before the stat would open) it pumps some out of the overflow on the overflow tank. I have a new 3 core Modine. Is the pump turning in the correct direction?

Now it seems to be O.K., although I havent driven it in 3 months (in storage). Hmmm, I never thought about that. I did change the Intake because I had to put a new timing chain. The car does run cool. This has been going on for 3 weeks now. The catch can is ok, and the oil is fine. NO LEAKS NOWHERE. I'll wait and see if it was just the system burping all the air pockets out.
