Post what does the cirlce thing at the end of the cam do?

haha..i know i can explain it better that that..its the cirle type thing that you botl on with the cam bolt and it goes after the top timing chain gear???just wondering if it did anything..one of those peices that i had no idea what it did..only think i could think of it that it keeps the upper part of the timing chain lubercated by throwing oil on it??

Good question...I assumed it was a oil slinger of some sort too...

It can't be important though...half the motors I've taken apart have them, half don't...I'm talkin about all injected motors.

its an eccentric cam lobe that operates mechanical fuel pumps.... just because you have a fuel injected car that doesn't mean your block wasn't prepped for carburators...all you need is a diff timing gear cover and you can make use of the mechanical fuel pump...i think they left it on the short block assy for people that were buying 302 short blocks from the factory and using them in thier older vehicles. that way they can keep stock alot easier instead of having a shelf of "fuel injected prepped" blocks and "carburated prepped" blocks. they use one short block for both applications
