Post What is an EVP? (Emission Component)

Went to the Ford dealer to have codes scanned. They said I need an EGR, EVP and Air Bypass Valve.

Can't find an EVP listed on any of the aftermarket sites. What is the proper name for this thing?

Are there any Ford Parts Dealers on line? I can't find any.

Thanks...

i'd go and just replace the egr for right now. that may be causing the other code to be thrown. the egr has a part to play in exhaust gasses at idle speeds, so i'm thinking thats why you got the 411 code. good luck

The EVP is the Egr Valve Position sensor. It is standard practice to replace the EGR and the EVP at the same time, and unless you're broke, it's a good idea.

HiFlow50 has a very good point concerning the IAB code 411. Try replacing the EGR & EVP first, and then clear and retest for codes, both KOEO & KOER (the 411 test is not performed during KOEO). If there's no code 411, you're done. If it does come back, replace the IAB.

Take care
~Chris

Thanks for your help and suggestions.

Now, has anyone bought from http://www.fordpartsonline.com ? Their Ford parts prices are almost the same as Auto Zone, NAPA and Pep Poys.

I've never heard of them before, but I just checked it out. They have some incredible prices, especially if it's really for Ford parts. Hmmm.

Take care

I started getting similar codes and had to replace the EVP sensor. Now because the gasket/O-ring is not correct there is "Excessive EVP voltage" so i'm probably going to have to try to hunt down another EVP gasket or use a sealant like silicone to seal it while checking out the output voltage....In other words, alot of work for a stupid problem.
