Canfields or the AFR 185s. I've heard some ups and downs about AFR though. My first choice would be the Canfields. The Victors would be great heads but not on the street. And TFS stuff is good...but you can do better.
------------------ 1984 1/2 GT350 (#842 Hatchback w/ T-tops), 302HO, Comp cams Xtreme Energy cam, Carter 625cfm carb, Weiand Stealth intake, MSD distributor, MSD coil, FMS 9mm wires, 1 5/8" MAC unequal shorties, 2 1/2" MAC Prochamber H-pipe, Flowmaster 2 chambers, KYBs, 16"x8" 4 lug Cobra Rs, Falken 245/45ZR16s So I pushed it up to 110, That flathead motor was about to give in, I crossed my fingers and prayed to the lord, Don't let me down you fuct up ford!" I have actually had a few people tell me i should get the twisted wedge heads because they are hands down the best. I will be sending the heads and both u/l intakes to extrude to have them ported to the max. the car will be a street/strip car, but definately not a daily driver. just thought those things should be taken into consideration.

The trickflows are good heads, but not the best. They are a good aluminum head that dosn't have a huge price tag on them.
If you are going to spend all that cash on the port work, it would be better to start off with a better head. The reason I recomended the canfields is because the low lift flow #'s are exellent and the numbers increase past .600 lift where some heads fall off ( i'm assuming your cam will be this big because your building a strip car). Because of the extra cubes, the 347 can use the bigger intake runners the canfields have without killing torque. When I was building my motor I called allot of engine shops (Bennet racing, panhandle performance) and they all agreed that Canfields would be the best bet on a 347 race motor. Victor jr's were a close second. I love my choice. Good low end grunt and it revs to the moon. ------------------ NA 347 W/ stage 2 Canfield heads, out of the box Victor 5.0 intake, solid roller cam, Aeromotive fuel system. Or a set of AFR 205's, their race head.
I've got a set of 185 AFR's and a Vic 5.0 Intake. had to mill the lower and port the heads to the intake, but other than that, no problem. Sweet cylinder head in any event, but purely a street piece as compared to the AFR 205's |
