I don't know about a 408, but a 393 can be made by using a 351W block, 351W rods and 302 pistons. Then all you need is the aftermarket stroker crankshaft. Those heads are better than the stock 302 heads, but I would not waste my time putting them on a 302, if it is all stock everywhere else. Also because, they don't have the smog pump bosses in the back of the head either. Talk to 82GT, he can tell you what kind of power to expect from upgrading the valves and doing port work on them.
