![]() Hey guys, new to this site, I got a 93 LX hatch 5 speed, with bone stock heads, cam and intake and the usual bolt-on's and slicks I've managed a 12.92 @ 104, thats pretty good right.

![]() That sounds really good....104? That is a 260 rwhp mph in a stock weight car. What weight restrictions do you have if any?

![]() I would say that is really good. The best i got my 91 coupe with basic bolt ons was a 13.31 @ 100 on slicks. Car weighs 3300 with me in it. I had full 2 1/2 inch exhaust, 73 mm mass air, 70 mm TB, 3.73 gears and 1 5/8 shorty headers. So the 104 mph is great for your car.

![]() Thanks guy's, it was a 2 year deal, but I achieved my goal. A 12 second, untouched heads, cam, intake (except to match egr spacer) daily driver.
Here's the package: 93 LX Hatch 5-speed 6" Conical 73 MAF (right smack on the T.B, eliminated tube, that always went over like a bomb at the track!!!) 65 FMS T.B 67 FMS EGR Stock Intake, Cam and heads March Pullies 1&5/8" Mac crap Long tubes 2 Chamber Flowmasters dumped (this car was loud) Cheesy Sub-frames Aluminum D.S. FMS Uppers Southside Lowers (the old non-greaseable ones, ugh!) 3.73 gears, yes, that's right 3.73's! (It wanted 4.10's bad!) 26X8.5 Mickey slicks Extra steel in the Traction-Lok (my little secret back in 1993, not so secret today) TRACK ONLY ITEMS: Remove Fan Install Engine Torque Strap Remove Front Sway Bar (keep the rear one, evens launch) ASF32C Motorcraft Plugs gapped HUGE Short Belt March Race Pulley Battery in the Back Weather was a nice cool, dry, fall day at a Central Illinois track (Byron Dragway) 50lbs air or so in front tires. Drain washer fluid (Re-use) (hey!, every bit helps) And a few other E.T. sqeaking secrets, not sure I want to share 3440 lbs. with my fat A$$ in it! Launched on the limiter, tried to break it, ya know! 60 ft was 1.69 E.T was 12.92 M.P.H was 104.53 Mr. 5.0 what do you think!!!!! ![]()

![]() You sure you don't have a sneaky pete you're not telling us about? Wow, that sounds pretty unbelievable. Are your heads/intake ported or anything? With all those mods, I see your car making about 200-215 hp (tops) at the rear wheels. I also think w/ that combo those long tube headers would actually be hurting your low end power. Taking into consideration your car's not too light either - I'd think you'd be lucky to see the mid 13's w/ a 94-96 trap. Even the analyzer has your car running in the 14's in the low 90's. How'd you pull that time/mph off? What's your secret?

![]() LOL!, No Sir, no sneaky ANYTHING, let me put that E.T. in perspective for any non-believers, that 12.92 was my BEST EVER, the conditions were excellent that day, I was pumped myself, new slicks, goin for my first 12, yadda, yadda, yadda, anyway, the car was ordinarily a 13 teen car in race trim. And yes, maybe the long tubes DID hurt my low end, but I'm launching at 6000, and I don't think rev's fell below 4200 on the whole pass, I had shorty's, the long john's WERE and improvement, believe me. Oh, just thought of something, a secret you may call it, I always ported my hedders to the heads, I was a welder at the time so it was easy and convienient too. And if you think about it, if i did sneak in some nitrous, the MPH would have been up a few, like say 106-107. Guy's that 12 pass was a culmination of doing ALL the tiny little things, I tried to THINK think like a Formula One engineer, "what else can I do?" "what else can I adjust PERFECTLY to help me here or there." Things like that matter.
Nope, no secrets gentlemen, just a clean, ultra-maintained street car making an extraordinary pass. Oh! and yes, it was no light weight either, it was me, I weigh 250 before beer. What does this analyzer thing say I was making as far as power, I always guessed 250 tops, I never dyno'd the car. Because if a basic GT-40 package is 285, I couldn't have been making anymore than 250 with the stock cam, heads, and intake. Interesting. What do you think? ![]()

![]() haulinbalz, the dumps would hurt torque more than the longtubes, it just depends on the tube diameter, longtubes can only help, trust me!
the engine strap, or torqu strap is a good idea, my friend with a bonestock sd 88 coupe, with m/t sportmans 28x12.50's, and 4.10's launched, and dented the hood inside out near the throttle body, wher his motor torqed, also his flex fan turned, and chewed up his shroud to pieces....hehe now thats hooking up, he said motor mounts were brand new ![]() btw, the 50lbs in the front tires is good for a tnth, i remember doing that when i ran 13.9. do you put your swaybar on when you leave the track or what?

![]() That 50lbs. of air in the front tires was worth maybe thousands, I would say a full tenth would be a little optomistic, but thank you for the enthusiasm.
As far as putting the car back together for the ride home from the track, I have Jello for a lower back and after a day of racing I was so worn out I'd just swap slicks for streets, long belt and fan on and go home, I've made over 20 test and tune passes on that car in an afternoon, so I was beat. I'd put the sway bar and battery and such on later at my convenience. Thanks

![]() I daily drive my car without the front swaybar, and it looks like a @##@ to put back on, yea the front tire thing would be more of a thounsands e.t reduction, but everything counts, i know people that take out their floor mats lol...
