![]() I usually go with Motorcraft or autolite, but I don't know what choices there are. All I know is what the computer at autozone says will fit (like 5 choices). The plugs I see some of you guys running I don't know where to get or what will fit?If you say "hotter than stock" the kid at a-zone might as well be selling matresses cause he don't know what your talking about!
What do you gurus use and what do you gap them to? Thanks Wes

![]() Which autolite? because after I posted I remembered that the autolites I got from A-zone are longer than the motorcrafts and make the wire boots touch the headers on a couple of cylinders
Headers are only 1 1/2 unequals, boots are 45*,should I maybe use straight boots? Stock ones are angled aren't they?

![]() Upon further inspection the only hole that requires a shorter plug is #2 I have to use a bosch super $.99. Any other listed plug for my car is longer than the B. super & the longer plugs puts the boot right on the header tube!!
I guess I'll have to get 1 wire with a straight boot?

![]() Autolite is #1 in my book. Motorcraft are a good OE plug too.

![]() You should not have header clearance issues with 1 1/2 unequal shorties. I have 1 3/4 longtubes in my 351 car and run motorcraft 450's or autolite 24's. Gapped at .054. In my 302 car, I have BBK equal length shorties with 1 5/8 primaries and the same plugs with no clearance issues. The stock wires are angled 45 degrees. What kind of wires do you have?
BTW, I have better luck with the autolites over the motrcrafts. Autolite gets my vote. Bosch supers suck ass. Even Champions are better than them.

![]() My wires are stock replacement 8mm dbl. silicone from a-zone, 45* boots, they're lifetime warnt. so I change them about twice a year.
I agree that bosch supers suck but they're short so they will work in hole #2, all others have motorcrafts in them right now. I need a good plug thats as short as a bosch super or a straight boot on that wire. Is it possable to put a straight boot one that wire? Can I buy just a boot? Or should I crimp that header tube for clearance, I't wouldn't take much. Thanks guys!!

![]() So out of curiosity, what makes a plug "bad" or "crap"? It's just a rod of copper in a ceramic insulator and some threads to screw it in with. What makes some plugs "better" than others?

![]() I would say quality of construction would be a consideration. I had a whole set of autolights develop a "rattle" to them. When I shook them, they would sound like something was loose internally. I have tried to avoid them since.
